XO-3的设计者叶维斯·贝哈尔(Yves Behar)表示，该款平板电脑目前仍处于概念阶段。根据当前的设计理念，它将采用8.5英寸x11英寸的触摸屏，没有任何按钮，用虚拟键盘替代物理键盘。
背部配有摄像头，感应充电器，一个角上还安装了可以折叠的圆环式拎手。在厚度上，只有iPhone手机的1/2。OLPC计划于2012年推出该款产品，价格预计为75美元。
